Music plays many vital roles in the ceremony, from providing flow and ambiance to highlighting the deeper emotional meaning. Many former brides and grooms remember the songs played at their weddings for the rest of their lives, and they can relive that romantic day when hearing those songs again. For the music aspect of the ceremony, most American wedding ceremonies have six major parts, each with their own special requirements:
Prelude- Music that is performed before the ceremony as guests are being seated.Wedding party’s processional- Entrance music for the Parents/Bridesmaids/Etc.
Bride’s processional- Entrance music for the Bride.
Interlude-Music that is used for special moments during the ceremony such as (unity candle or sand, presentation of flowers to the Virgin Mary, etc.)
Recessional-Exit Music for the newlyweds.
Postlude-Music that is performed as the guests and wedding party are exiting.
